Best Actor: Pat Miller
It takes great skill for an actor to transform himself from one person to another. But becoming another species entirely is an even bigger challenge, and that's what Pat Miller accomplished in last year's production of Bat Boy at Blank Canvas Theatre. From the opening moment, when he was suspended upside-down from a crossbeam high above the stage, Miller captured the scary yet strangely cuddly character of this hybrid creature named Edgar. By the end of the evening, the audience was clearly ready to invite Edgar to, um, hang out any time.

Blank Canvas Theater was hoping for a laugh in its production of Bat Boy: The Musical – a modern-day gothic tale set to rock-gospel music and built for comedy. It got it, thanks to Pat Miller’s delightfully high risk/high reward performance as the Bat Boy and a hilariously campy jump scare that found Miller bald, bare and hanging upside-down from the rafters.

The Amusing, Believable Bat Boy at Blank Canvas Theatre
"Blank Canvas has the estimable Pat Miller as Edgar, and from the first moment when you first spy him hanging upside down high above the stage, you are never in doubt about this creature’s bat-like qualities. Thrashing in his cage after he’s caught by some local yahoos, Miller ‘s thin frame, bald head and bug-eyed visage are creepy indeed. And this makes his transition to a rather erudite young man later on all the more effective and amusing."
THEATER REVIEW: Bat Boy at Blank Canvas Theatre
"Pat Miller is outstanding as the Bat Boy Edgar... He has an excellent singing voice and creates a completely believable character... It’s worth seeing the show, if for no other reason, to observe the wonderful character development by Pat Miller as the Bat Boy."
Blank Canvas’ Bat Boy goes for the jugular
"It is a romp pure and simple. And it is a really good one, led by the high risk/high reward performance of Miller as the Bat Boy, complete with athletic contortions, superb singing and a remarkable transformation from wild beast to proper gentleman."
CLEVE REVIEW: Hanging Out With Bat Boy at Blank Canvas Theatre
"The dauntless director's formula for success includes picking an amazing actor — the ever-intriguing Pat Miller — to play the title role... Miller is mesmerizing in the role, contorting and cavorting whether he's in a cage or taking center stage."
Theater review: Lakewood’s Beck Center finds its holy grail in ‘Spamalot’
"No one better handles the comedy and the choreography than Pat Miller. He is brilliant as Patsy, whose job as King Arthur’s manservant is to simulate with two halves of a coconut the sound of hoof beats for Arthur’s nonexistent horse. Every facial expression and each gesture places a comedic glyph above the dialogue, adding flair to the festivities and enriching the production."

High Fidelity at Blank Canvas Theatre
"Miller is a hot mess of vocal delight, and a human doobie of fun, as Dick."
Funky, Fun, HIGH FIDELITY, A MUSICAL at Blank Canvas
"Another delight was 'It's No Problem,' first sung by the utterly charming Charlie Brown-like Pat Miller as the nerdy Dick, who doesn't know whether he has had sex or not. But by the end of the show, he has a girl friend, Anna (the equally nerdy Monica Zach) who joins Miller in the song's reprise."

Shakespeare gets musical makeover in ‘Titus’
"The best of times is delivered by Matt O’Shea, as the wonderfully unbalanced Emperor Saturninus, and Pat Miller, whose quick switches between his good and evil characters are burlesque at its best."
TITUS: A GRAND AND GORY ROCK-MUSICAL AT CPT
Val Kozlenko (Lucius/Chiron) and Pat Miller (Bassanius/Demetrius) would be sure bets to win The Amazing Race. Watching these two traverse the evening is a complete success, with each in total control of his impressive talents, vocally rocking out as the brothers Grimm or as back-up singers to a trippy vision to screw up Titus’s head, which reminded me of Josie and the Pussycats on crack.
